GOA

Variously known as "Pearl of the Orient" and a "Tourist Paradise", the state of Goa is located on the western coast of India in the coastal belt known as Konkan. The magnificent scenic beauty and the architectural splendours of its temples, churches and old houses have made Goa a firm favourite with travellers around the world.

What to see in Goa

Goa is much more than just beaches and sea. It has a soul which goes deep into unique history, rich culture and some of the best natural scenery that India has to offer. Four centuries of Portuguese rule and that of other rulers before them has given Goa an unique lifestyle that consists of a blend of Indian and Western influences as can be seen in its varied culture and the architecture of its towns and villages. A must see is the Ancestral Goa project, a miniature Goan Village as it would have existed 100 years ago. It is located on a nine acre verdant hillock at Loutulim ins South Goa, about ten kilometers from Margao. This place also gives visitors a glance of a sight other than beaches, churches and temples which Goa is famous for and imparts a culture based education about the roots and heritage of Goa.

What to do in Goa

Goa's beaches are perfect for relaxing and swimming. A number of water sports and activities available in Goa, such as windsurfing, jet skiing, parasailing and sea kayaking. The best season for enjoying water sports in Goa is from October to May when the skies are cloudless and blue, and the waters fairly calm.

Travelling to and around Goa

Goa is serviced by an international/national airport located at Dabolim near Vasco. The airport has frequent international fights to Europe as well as several flights daily to Mumbai and other main Indian cities. An intra-state and inter-state bus network gets locals and visitors alike in and around Goa, and there are countless three and four wheeled taxis available for short hops around the resort.
